Mel Tiangco faced the members of media for the publicity of her show in GMA-7 entitled “Magpakailanman.”
This coming Saturday, as the start of the second season, the show will feature the story of young Kesz Valdez, the Peace Prize winner in the Netherlands. Vincent Magbanua will play the role of Kesz.
Mel promised that the story they will featuring in the second season of the show will be heavier and well-researched, which had a huge difference from the Magpakailanman before.
“Before I accepted it, isa sa mga hiniling ko, ang mga istoryang mala-news ang klase ng pag-aaral at pagsasaliksik ng istorya.
“Ibig sabihin, talagang accurate. You have to be up-to-date. You have to present the truth, only the fact.
The news anchor admitted that she was nosy when it comes to her program and even knowing everything about it. She said she just wanted to make sure that the story she is featuring in the drama anthology she hosted will have a good outcome.
The media then asked her if she was willing to share her story for Magpakailanman. But, Mel only laughed in response and said,
“Hindi nga, e. Napaka-corny ng buhay ko!”
But the media still insist if she can only share some parts of her life. Mel said,
The Kapuso newscaster added,
“Pero puwede ba yun? Baka idemanda tayo!
Mel was reminded by the bitter experience she went through when ABS-CBN fires her, almost eighteen years ago.
It can be recalled that Mel was suspended on ABS-CBN in 1995 because of her appearance in a detergent commercial. She allegedly violated a circular. It is one of the conditions of ABS-CBN which prohibited the current affairs, news, and radio employees of the Kapamilya network to appear in any commercial advertisements without the management’s consent.
Because of this, there was a legal battle between Mel and ABS-CBN which leads her to transferred to another network, which is the GMA-7 together with her former co-host Jay Sonza.
But, despite all the bad things she experienced from the network, Mel learned a lot from ABS-CBN and she already forgave those people in the Kapamilya channel.
“Ang natutunan ko lang sa experience na yun, ‘You cannot put a good man down.’ Kasi, you know, I love that company very much. I gave everything I had.”
But I did not lose my equilibrium. I did not lose my balance. I was still in control of my life.
The television host further added that she already forgive those people who oppressed her in the Kapamilya network for a long time even though they didn’t ask for forgiveness. This is because of all the blessings she received when she transferred to GMA-7.
Napakabait nila sa akin, napakarami kong fulfillment here at GMA,”
Mel didn’t mention the people who oppressed her but she gives a message to the people she was referring to from ABS-CBN Network.
After the interview, Mel added that she should have said “sirs” because they are many.
