Nabahala Ang Mga Pasaheros Sa Pagsabog At Sunog Sa Riles Ng LRT-2

Light Rail Transit (LRT)and the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) are the two public means of transport of the government utilizes by the public going to their works, offices, and schools. Previously there are various problems and issues encountered by these public transports and presently another incident happened that alarmed the public commuters.

Unfortunately, again the operation of the public transport system of the government has been suspended because of the explosions and fires at the rail the said public transport system.

Due to the incident, the Katipunan station encounters brownout and the commuters were immediately evacuated and dispersed.

It was found out that the incident happened in the midst of the rail between Anonas and Katipunan stations.
According to the report of the GMA News Online, it was 11:00 in the morning when the operation of the LRT-2 has been suspended.

Explanation of their spokesperson Atty. Hernando Cabrera said that the rectifier was burned at the Katipunan Station and the power supply was affected.
Cabrera explained.

“Ang rectifier parang transformer ‘yan. Kumbaga sa mga bahay natin, puwede ring maikumpara ito sa mga power surge protector. Ang purpose niyan talaga is to regulate ‘yung ating power supply,”

Cabrera furthered

“Since walang power supply doon sa area na ‘yun, technically buong linya hindi na rin namin mapapatakbo kasi magbabara ‘yung mga tren doon sa area, mawawalan sila ng power,”

Meanwhile, the technical staff is continuing to investigate the cause of the incident.

According to LRT-2 management, they are trying to immediately resume operations from Recto to Cubao stations or to Anonas station.
