Naalala Niyo Pa Ba Ang Kontrabida Noong ’70, Ganito Na Pala Siya Mamuhay Ngayon

Former actor Ruel Vernal, who was popular for his “villain” characters in Philippine movies, is experiencing this life presently.

Ruel was famous for his villain performances throughout the 1970s up to the 1990s. He dramatically played his characters that have caused fear to the leading ladies and menace to the leading men. Who would not get afraid of his large body and voice that would always appear that you are at risk?

Because of that, the famous Kontrabida consumed three decades of his life in the Philippine showbiz industry and had seen in various movies that became successes such as ‘Kapag Buhay Ang Inutang’, ‘Kapitan Pablo: Cavite’s Killing Fields’, and ‘Hindi Pa Tapos Ang Laban’.

He was last seen in a film last 2003 for ‘Dayo’. Inside those years he spent making films, Ruel Vernal was acknowledged. He was recognized as the Metro Manila Film Festival 1976 Best Supporting Actor for the film ‘Insiang’.

For a similar movie, Ruel also got the Best Supporting Actor award from Gawad Urian. Apart from his movie assignments, the former supporting actor was also famous for being a commercial model of one of the famous local beers in the country from 1982-1983.

Ruel Vernal is presently happily living in Washington D.C. with his family after he parted from the showbiz industry. Although he is now 73 years old but still the impression that he was before an action movie star stays obvious.
