This Tuesday morning, a strong earthquake was felt in various parts of the Visayas.

The incident happened at a church during the earthquake was spotted in the video clip uploaded on social media.

In the said video clip posted by Brgy. Sta. Monica OtonIloilo on Facebook, it can be seen that the chandelier is already moving inside the church of Sta. Monica Parish in Iloilo due to the magnitude of the earthquake.

However, the devotees were not shaken on the strong earthquake instead, they just continued to pray. Church members were conducting a Novenario when they felt the tremor.

Aside from that, the movement of water in a river when the earthquake occurred is seen in the video. Big waves can also be seen.

A road in Barangay Gahit, Cataingan was also damaged due to the strong earthquake.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the powerful 6.6-magnitude earthquake rocked Masbate on Tuesday morning. The strong earthquake k1lled one person and 36 people were injured. The quake caused severe damage, especially to the resident in the Visayas.

PRC-Masbate chapter Administrator Marie Jane Oxemer said in a phone call interview that a resident of Brgy. Alimango in Cataingan, Masbate d1ed from the tremor, based on the initial reports from the PRC.

Meanwhile, Cataingan disaster officer Venus Rojo confirmed that the fatality was the retired Police Senior Superintendent, Gilber Sauro. He loses his life after he was pinned down under his collapsed house. Oxemer added that 36 people in Masbate sustained injuries.

Aside from that, due to the powerful earthquake, their several establishments in Cataingan were also damaged, including the local public attorney’s office, public market, and police station.

As of now, the PRC officials are still collecting information about the number of casualties and damage caused by the quake.
